On Thursday, June 22, 2023, The Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD) will be hosting the 36th Annual Adele C. Smithers Angel Ball at Oheka Castle. We are privileged to have the opportunity to honor 2023 Founder Award Recipient, Michael J. Brennan and 2023 Humanitarian Award Recipient, John Polsinelli and Family.

On Saturday, May 20th, Simply Fit will be hosting the 2nd Annual 5K Run & Walk dedicated to the fight against the ravages of addiction. Join us for an opportunity to raise awareness and make a difference in lives of those who are in need, as all proceeds will benefit LICADD.

May 9th is Fentanyl Awareness Day. We lose someone to fentanyl every 8.5 minutes; let’s take this time to move forward and prevent more unnecessary deaths!

Join LICADD at the April 25th, 2023 at 7 PM for a forum with guest speakers from the Department of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the United States Attorney's Office presented by Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Jennifer DeSena.

Join us on Thursday, May 11th, 2023 at Rockville Centre Public Library at 6:45pm as partner with Assemblyman Brian Curran, Hempstead Town Supervisor Donald Calvin, Legislator Bill Gaylor and Rockville Centre Mayor Francis Murray for a public event focusing on the risks of underage drinking and vaping.

Join us on Wednesday, April 19th, 2023 at Lynbrook Public Library at 7:00pm as partner with Assemblyman Brian Curran, Senator Patricia Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick, Legislator Bill Gaylor, Lynbrook Mayor Bill Gaylor and the Lynbrook Police Department for a public event focusing on the risks of underage drinking and vaping.

Thank you to the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District and Community Parent Center for their partnership and organizing such an incredible public event. Together, we were able to equip our community with knowledge and resources necessary to stay safe and healthy.

Exciting news! Families in Support of Treatment (F.I.S.T) and Gabriel’s Giving Tree (G.G.T.) are now a part of LICADD. On Friday, March 24th we were delighted with the opportunity to reunite with all who have support F.I.S.T throughout the years and celebrate the new partnership of LICADD, F.I.S.T. and G.G.T. at the FIST Family Re-Union.

The 2023 Angel Ball Kick-off was absolutely groundbreaking! LICADD thanks Brother Hoagland, LICADD Board Director Mr. Jack McCutcheon and the students of Kellenberg Memorial High School for generously hosting us in the Millenium Room. The kick-off celebration of the Angel Ball season brought together families, educators, leaders in our community and in the treatment field for new friendships, partnerships and in unity for the LICADD cause.

LICADD thanks Family and Children's Association, THRIVE Recovery Centers and Phoenix House New York for co-hosting such an impactful panel discussion that highlighted diversity, equity and inclusion issues black and brown people experience in human services.
