Mission of YAB:
The Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is committed to engaging & empowering young people to promote the prevention of harmful substance use & addiction while increasing awareness of youth mental health concerns. By elevating youth voices & fostering leadership skills, the YAB provides a supportive space where members gain the knowledge, skills, & confidence to educate & uplift their peers. Through collaboration and local advocacy, the YAB strives to create positive change within the community & advance the mission of LICADD.
Vision:
To cultivate a community where young people are equipped with the knowledge & resources to lead healthy, substance-free lives, & have the confidence to access support, as well as connect others with support when needed. Through local advocacy & events, we aspire to create a network of empowered youth who actively contribute to the betterment of their own mental health & their peers. Ultimately, we envision this board will help foster a safer, more informed, & compassionate society.
Who is a good fit to join LICADDs YAB?
- People between ages 13-21.
- Those with a passion for helping others, relating to substance use & mental health.
- People with 3-5 hours a month to volunteer.
- Those who want to make a difference for their peers!
