Join LICADD in partnership with the Town of Brookhaven Department of General Services, Youth Bureau Division on Tuesday, August 11th from 9:30 AM-12:00 PM at Brookhaven Town Hall OR virtually for an interactive and important workshop on Addressing the Intersection of Digital Life & Substance Use Risk Among Youth. Today's adolescents navigate a digital world that shapes how they connect, learn, socialize, and form their identities. While technology offers many benefits, digital environments can also increase exposure to substance use content, normalize risky behaviors, influence decision-making, and impact mental health.

LICADD's Education Specialist, Mary Elaine Gibbo, MSW will provide explore the complex relationship between social media, gaming, online communities, digital marketing, and substance use risk among youth. Attendees will examine current trends, research, risk and protective factors, and practical strategies for prevention, early intervention, and clinical response. The workshop will also provide tools to support healthy digital habits while reducing substance use risk among adolescents.

This workshop is FREE to attend (advanced registration required) and is open to all who are interested - including mental health professionals, educators, parents/guardians, and other community members. Registration closes on 08/10/26, and there are limited in-person spots available. Those attending in-person will have access to a light breakfast. Completion of this workshop will provide 2.5 CEUs for eligible LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, and CASACs.
