LICADD’s Director of Programming, Adam Birkenstock, LCSW, recently joined News 12 Long Island to discuss the growing public health concern of problem gambling and the impact of mobile sports betting on individuals, families, and communities across Long Island.
During the segment, Birkenstock highlighted how the increased accessibility of online and mobile betting may contribute to gambling-related harms, particularly among young people, and emphasized the importance of education, prevention, awareness, and access to support and treatment services.
We are grateful to News 12 Long Island and reporter Logan Crawford for bringing attention to this important issue and helping increase awareness of the resources available to individuals and families impacted by gambling-related challenges.
