DOT-Qualified Substance Abuse Professionals (SAPs)
LICADD provides expert Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) services for employees covered under U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Our experienced and DOT-qualified SAPs evaluate, diagnose, refer, and monitor the education and treatment of employees who test positive for alcohol and/or controlled substances, refuse to be tested, or who violate other provisions of the DOT rules.
•Evaluate the seriousness of the problem using reliable alcohol and drug abuse assessment tools during a face-to-face meeting with the employee
•Provide treatment and/or education recommendations based on that clinical evaluation
•Send an initial report to the employer detailing our education and/or treatment recommendations
•Refer the employee to appropriate clinical or educational services, taking into account employee insurance coverage, employee ability to pay for care, employer treatment contracts, employer policies regarding availability of leave for employees needing assistance, and availability of treatment and education programs
•Monitor the employee’s participation in treatment or education programs, including attendance and active engagement
•Assess the employee’s success in fulfilling the requirements of the treatment and/or education plan and evaluate the employee’s clinical progress
•Construct a follow-up testing drug/alcohol testing plan for the employee that is spread throughout the year, unpredictable and unannounced.
•Deliver a follow-up report detailing the employee’s level of compliance with treatment/educational requirements, recommendations for continued care and the extended testing schedule.
•Securely maintain copies of reports to employers for 5 years, and all clinical records in accordance with federal, state and local laws.
Only experienced DOT-qualified addiction specialists, social workers, and employee assistance professionals (EAPs) provide LICADD’s SAP services. These professionals have extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of chemical dependency, a thorough knowledge of appropriate treatment and educational programs and an unwavering commitment to following all DOT regulations.
LICADD recognizes that the DOT rules play in important role in promoting public safety and we take the guesswork out of returning employees with a history of substance abuse to safety sensitive positions. We also recognize drug and alcohol screening as an important gateway for employees struggling with addiction who might not otherwise seek help. LICADD has a 56-year history of providing chemical dependency assessments and we operate one of the region’s largest Employee Assistance Programs. Let us help you reduce your risks, while promoting the health, safety and well-being of your employees and our community.
