LICADD is pleased to announce that Mr. Nelson Mojica, a mentor in our BUDDY (Building Unique, Dynamic and Diverse Youth) program received Mentor of the Year award from Mentor New York. A special dinner, Mentoring Night Out was held on June 22nd at the Bowery Hotel in New York City. Both Mr. Mojica and his mentee, Miguel G. were in attendance. Celebrating with them were BUDDY Program Coordinator, Lauren Laurore, LMSW (Email) and LICADD Board Chairman Michael Brennan and his wife, Donna. The BUDDY program matches children who have an incarcerated parent (or close relative) with an adult trained volunteer. The mentor meets with their mentee on a regular basis to provide guidance and support with the goal of building a trusting relationship.
