Michael and Dee Schaffield

The LICADD community mourns the loss of dear friend and Board Director Michael Schaffield, who passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 10, 2012.  Michael was a cherished member of the LICADD family and was instrumental in developing the organization that exists today.  He served as Board Chairman (2003-2005), Nominating Committee Chairman, and was one of the founding members of LICADD’s Leadership Council.  Michael was a pivotal member of the LICADD Strategic Planning Committee, and as such, he helped to create the vision for the future of LICADD.  We will miss his keen intellect, his dedication, and compassionate spirit.  Current Board Chair Bill Baum reflected the sentiments of the LICADD community when he said, “I am profoundly grateful to have had the honor to work with Michael and hope to continue his work on behalf of families struggling with addiction.”  The Board of Directors, Leadership Council and Staff would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies to Michael’s beloved wife Dee, his son Brian, and his daughter-in-law and grandchildren.
